We need to focus on health and healthy lifestyles from pre-natal to elder-hood by giving the people of the 5th District the sufficient resources to lead a successful journey through life. We need to ensure that our greatest treasures and assets; the children, youth and families of the 5th District can have quality healthcare.


Accessing Health Care Resources:


    • Parents can sign up their children for the state's affordable health insurance programs

    • Seniors can sign up for one their affordable prescription drug programs

    • Women can find information on free breast and cervical cancer screenings

    • Anyone can see what health coverage options might be available to them under the Affordable Care Act

  • Medical Assistance Programs 

    • Medical Assistance programs are designed to provide Illinois’ residents access to quality health care

  • All Kids 

    • All Kids offers Illinois’ uninsured children comprehensive health care that includes doctor’s visits, hospital stays, prescription drugs, vision care, dental care and medical devices like eyeglasses and asthma inhalers.

What is the purpose of this service?

The Bureau of Refugee and Immigrant Services funds, manages and monitors contracts designed to:

  • Help newly arriving refugees achieve self-sufficiency in the United States;

  • Provide outreach and interpretation services to low-income and limited English-proficient individuals requiring supportive services

    • What is the Senior HelpLine?

      • Senior HelpLine provides information on programs and services and links person 60 years of age and older and their caregivers to local services

      • Professional staff briefly assess needs, send literature and write referrals for a range of services such as care coordination services, the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program, legal services, transportation, employment and nutrition services

      • Senior HelpLine staff also provide abuse intake and accept appeals and service inquiries from the Community Care Program clients
